Once again, the Richmond Lacrosse Community will have access to a youth indoor lacrosse program at a first-rate facility north of the James River. The Richmond Police Athletic League (PAL) lacrosse program, which began in the spring of 2005, is joining forces for the third winter with the state-of-the-art indoor SCOR facility www.scor-richmond.com on Overbrook Road near the Diamond to offer expanded league play for boys grades 3,4,5 (Minor); grades 6,7,8 (Middle School); grades 9,10,11 and 12 (High School), for girls Grades 6,7,8 (middle School Girls ), 9 and 10 (Junior varsity Girls) Boys and Girls (instructional) ages K-3.
The PAL program will construct the teams for the first session (with realignment possible thereafter if needed to achieve competitive balance). The instructional league is intended for younger (generally 5-7 years of age) and less-experienced players, and sessions will consist of 30 minutes of instruction and training, followed by 30 minutes of games, with 5 players/team on the field at one time.
The Minor, Junior High and High School divisions are intended for older/more experienced players up to the age of 17, and the hour-long sessions will be devoted entirely to games, with 7 players/team on the field at one time. The sessions will be conducted on Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm. (Teams will have games scheduled for different hours throughout that timeframe.)
We will offer play this winter for girls at two levels. Middle School girls, 6th, 7th and 8th grade will play during the first session. The second hour will be open to JV high school players up through the 10th grade. We will play 8v8 each game with two 20 minute running time halves. Girls will be assigned to teams each week based on previous playing experience and ability…with the intention of always having two equally competitive teams on the field at all times. Enrollment will be limited, so sign up early.
The season will begin on January 11, 2009 and end on February 22, 2009 (7 games). The cost per player will be $110.00 and will include a reversible penny. Players must provide all their equipment, including, at a minimum, stick, helmet, shoulder pads, and gloves. The program will provide goalie sticks and pads.
All league play will be non-contact stick checking only. To register, click here.. If you must register using paper forms please download all lacrosse forms from our website send your check and forms to the Richmond PAL office.
