12/28/11 -Rowdies Pull Off Come From Behind Victory
The Richmond Rowdies pulled off a thrilling come from behind victory Wednesday night to defeat Dulles AC in its home opener. Andy McIntosh and Ross Mckinley each scored in the fourth quarter to give the Rowdies the victory. Celo Vusutovic and McIntosh lead the Rowdies with 3 goals each, while Forsan Radwan (James River H.S./VCU) kept the opponents on their heels with numerous penetrating runs.
Dulles AC opened the scoring in the first quarter with a goal by Mike Caro. The Rowdies quickly responded as Celo Jusutovic's creative right footed heel shot caught Dulles' goal keeper off guard. The Rowdies jumped ahead minutes later as Tyler Pardue found Celo with a brilliant half field penetrating pass, inside the box. Celo's quick turn and finish put the Rowdies u 2 to 1. Dulles responded with four unanswered goals for a 4 - 2 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Both teams continued to attack and had numerous scoring opportunities, but both goal keepers made key saves to deny the chances. The Rowdies Scott Zaring came up huge numerous times to keep Richmond with in striking distance. The first half ended at 5-3 with the lone goal coming from a Penalty Kick by the Rowdies' Tyler Pardue.
Both teams came out firing after the break with a total of seven goals scored in the third period. Player Coach Andy McIntosh started the Rowdies scoring, as he diced three players and sent a blistering left-footed shot past Dulles' goal keeper. McIntosh, and Ross McKinsey continued the scoring and Celo added a free kick from the red line to pull the Rowdies with in 8-7 at the end of the third quarter.
The Rowdies continued their comeback in the fourth quarter as they continued to press their attack. Richmond's defense, anchored by Zaring's strong goal keeping, held Dulles scoreless for the final period. McIntosh and McKinsey provided the dramatic goals that lead to Rowdies victory. McIntosh tied the game with a put back on a shot by McKinsey. McKinsey completed the comeback with a free kick from the red line that ended up being the game winner. Dulles AC got two goals each from Robbie Batchldor, Adriel Corcic, and Parker Walton. The Rowdies next game will be at the Fredericksburg Field House, Saturday January 7th at 7:00pm vs. the Fredericksburg Generals.

ABOUT THE ROWDIES
The Richmond Rowdies entering their 4th season of play will compete in the brand new Indoor Premier League “IPL”. In its inaugrial season, the IPL will include: Richmond Rowdies, FC Fredericksburg Generals, Tidewater Sharks, the Va. Beach Sol, Dulles AC, and the Winchester Impact. The season will consist of 10 games with the season running December 2010 thru February 2011.
The Richmond Rowdies combine the non-stop action of professional indoor soccer with affordable family fun that’s hard to beat! The Rowdies will once again feature fan favorites such as SCOR assistant G.M. Tyler Pardue, and returning players include league favorites (Gago) Andre Nunes, Rhodiney Vilela, Ben Hunter and leading goal scorer Andy McIntosh!!
2010/2011 Season
Rowdies fall in first round of Playoffs
The Richmond Rowdies Ended their 2010/2011 season with a 8 - 3 defeat at the hands of the Tidewater Sharks. The short - handed Rowdies playing with out starters: Luke Vercillone, Ben Hunter, Rhodney (all playing with the Richmond Kickers), and Andy McIntosh (Injury) put up a valiant effort; but could not keep up with Sharks high pressure attack. The Rowdies ended the season at 7-4.
Short Handed Rowdies Fall to Winchester on the Road!

The Richmond Rowdies fell to 6-2 in League play with a 16 - 4 Loss to Winchester. The Rowdies traveled to Winchester with only six players, due to injuries and previous commitments. Tyler Pardue lead the way for the Rowdies with 3 goals, and Sam Na added a lone goal. Richmond remained in first place in the IPL despite the loss.
ROWDIES REBOUND TO IMPROVE TO 6-1 IN IPL!

After suffering their first loss of the season to Virginia Beach SOL last weekend, the Richmond Rowdies Improved to 6 - 1, with a 9-5 victory over the visiting Winchester Impact. The victory allowed the Rowdies to remain a top the Indoor Premier League Standings.
The Rowdies started strong dominating possession in the first quarter but could not penetrate the Impacts defense. Richmond came close numerous times as Sam Na's free kick deflected off the post and Luke Vercollone was denied by Winchester's goal keeper Chris Peter. The momentum began to shift as the Impact got their feet underneath them and in the 13th minute were rewarded with a goal by Manny Barcia. Winchester held on to preserve a 1- 0 lead at the end of the first period.
Ben Hunter got the Rowdies on the board at the start of the second quarter with a bullet off a volley that went upper 90 as the Keeper barely had time to react. Richmond was a bit unlucky as the Impact responded shortly there after with a shot that deflected off the board and off Rowdies' keeper Adam Thompson's back into the goal for a 2-1 lead. Rhodney got the home team even moments later with a quick turn and shot that beat the keeper near post. He then followed up with his second goal of the game off a free kick from the red line to give the Rowdies their first lead of the night. Winchester knotted the score seconds later on a rebound off a Thompson save. With the half coming to an end, Richmond was awarded a power play with two minutes to go, but the Winchester defense killed off the penalty and both teams went into the break tied at three.
The Rowdies started the scoring in the third period as Luke Vercollone's cheeky little back heal found Ben Hunter who finished the goal and gave Richmond a 4 - 3 lead. The Impact's Kevin Peter kept his team close with an acrobatic diving save that denied a sure goal by B.J. Bourne. But the Rowdies were not to be denied as Vercollone scored on a far post goal seconds later for the first two goal lead of the game. Winchester, however, was not finished as they came storming back to tie the score at five with a PK goal by Mike Danielson, and a counter attack goal by Hector Bardales as the third quarter came to an end
With the score tied at 5 the fourth quarter began with both teams picking up the pressure, as the game became more and more physical. With the Impact already serving a two minute penalty, they committed their sixth foul of the period and Richmond was awarded a two man advantage. But Winchester's defense held strong as the Rowdies could not find the mark, despite numerous chances. Tensions continued to rise as the Impact received yet another two minute penalty with 10 minutes to go in the game. Winchester once again killed off the penalty. But moments later as, the Rowdies raucous home crowd got louder and louder and provided the team a boost. Sam Na stripped the ball from the Impacts last defender and hit a rope into the corner for a 6-5 lead, with 8:30 to go. Vercollone's power play goal, his second of the night, gave the Rowdies a 7 - 5 lead with five minutes to go. With the home crowd continuing its fever pitched support the Impacts last defender pulled down Ben Hunter from behind rewarding him with a shoot out attempt. During the attempt Hunter beat the goal keeper but failed to score in the allotted five seconds, and the goal was disallowed. After the play the Impact's keeper took exception to Hunter's antics and received a red card ejection from the game. As play resumed the Rowdies took over the game as Tyler Pardue had a great turn and goal for an 8 - 5 lead. Vercollone provided the final margin, with his team leading 15th goal of the season, with three minutes to go. The goal was assisted by Gago, as he sliced through the Winchester defense, to the delight of the fans. Adam Thompson got his fourth win of the season collecting 14 saves.
SOL Shock first place Rowdies
January 22nd, Virginia Beach
Playing to a capacity crowd, the FC Virginia Beach SOL toppled the league leading Richmond Rowdies 7-4 on Saturday at the Virginia Beach Field House. The FC SOL rode the solid play of Marcello who led the team with 4 goals, keeper Daryl Fischer, and young Jake Corliss who had 2 goals. The SOL defense was stout as Richmond put the press on in the fourth quarter, now allowing a goal in the final 15 minutes. Coach Pablo Ortiz mentioned, “We really needed this. It was a great win for the team, to know that we can play with and beat the top teams in the division.” Coach Alex Rebeiz continued, “We want to take this momentum and keep moving forward to produce more wins.” The SOL move into a bye week to prepare for the trip to rival Fredericksburg on February 5th.
1-15-11 Short Handed Rowdies Improve to 5-0 in IPL!
The Richmond Rowdies improved to 5-0 with a 6-4 victory over the Virginia Beach SOL (0-4). The Rowdies, dressed only 10 players, and were without its second leading scorer Rhodney and defensive standout Gago (injury) but were still able to pull out a win over the visiting SOL.
Virginia Beach got off to a strong start puling out to a 2 - 0 lead. Ben Hunter got the Rowdies on a roll, mid way through the first quater on a assist from Luke Vercollone. Tyler Pardue tied the score moments later, to pull the Rowdies even at the end of the first 15 minutes.
The second quarter saw both teams have a number of quality chances with both goal keepers coming up big with numerous quality saves. The Rowdies side of the pressure culminated with a flurry of shots in the last minute of the half. Both Vercollone and Pardue were stopped by SOL goal keeper, Thomas Baron, on point blank shots. Andy McIntosh hit a brilliant left footed free kick as he bent the ball around the wall, only to be denied by the post. The Rowdies kept up the pressure and were rewarded with a goal by Sam Na, as time expirered, to take a 3-2 lead..
The third quarter continued to be a defensive battle with Rowdies goal keeper, Adam Thompson, coming up huge with a number of acrobatic saves to maintain Richmond's one goal lead. Moments later McIntosh stripped the ball from a SOL defender and calmly beat the Keeper to build the Rowdies lead to 4-2. But Virginia Beach was not to be denied and answered with 15 seconds left in the quarter to pull within 4-3.
Rowdies leading scorer Luke Vercollone, scored in the fourth quarter to give his team a two goal lead. Both teams, once again, had quality chances but both the Rowdies' Thompson and the SOL's Baron were up to the task. As time began to wind down the SOL pushed forward and pulled to with in one with 45 seconds remaining. But Vercollone answered, with his 13th goal of the season, as time expired for the final 6-4 margin of victory. Vercollone and the SOL's Kyle Miller lead all scorers with 2 goals each. Rowdies game MVP, Adam Thompson (18 saves), picked up his third win of the season. The SOL's Thomas Baron finished with 15 saves
01/08/11 - Rowdies Stay Unbeaten with Road Win!
The Richmond Rowdies improved to 4-0, and strengthened its hold on first place, with a 12-6 win over the F.C. Fredericksburg Generals (2-2). The Rowdies scored first on a header by Sam Na and jumped out to a 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.Rhodney paced the way with 3 goals in the first half as the Rowdies increased their lead to 8 - 3.
The Generals faught back to pull with in 2 goals in the third period, only to see the Rowdies pull away for the final margin of victory. Luke Vercollone lead all scorers with 4 goals and 1 assist. Andy McIntosh added 3 goals and 2 assists, and Matt Lacy added a goal. Adam Thompson picked up his second victory of the season in goal for the Rowdies.
12-18-10 Rowdies Hold Off Generals to Take Top Spot in IPL!
The Richmond Rowdies improved to 3-0 and claimed sole possession of first place, in the IPL, with a hard fought 5-4 win over the F.C. Fredericksburg Generals (2-1). The Rowdies were paced by Luke Vercollone (2 goals).
The Rowdies got on the board first with the only score of the first quarter as Matt Lacey ripped a left footed shot past the frozen keeper for a 1-0 lead. Each team hit the post in the quarter, but the score remained 1-0 as both keepers came up big
The defensive struggle continues in the second quarter until the Generals finally broke through on an unassisted counter attack goal by Jeramy Young to tie the score at 1-1. Both teams went into the break pleased with their defensive performance, but trying to figure out how to get more scoring opportunities. Said Rowdies coach Ray Pardue "We finally came out strong defensively and our penalty killing unit denied them twice. We just needed to figure out how to break them down defensively."
The third quarter opened up a bit, as Rhodiney shredded the Generals defense numerous times with dangerous runs only to come up empty each time. Sam Na gave the Rowdies the lead a few minutes later as he beat a defender and slotted the ball, past the keeper, to the far post on the ground. The Generals responded with goals by Steven Rupp and Josh West to take their first and only lead of the night (3-2). Andy McIntosh tied the score at 3 -3 moments later as he got the keeper to go to ground and beat him 1 v 1.
Luke Vercollone opened the scoring in the fourth quarter to give the Rowdies a 4 - 3 lead. Bobby Fogleson scored, for the Generals, mid way through the final period to knot the score at 4 - 4. The game winner for the Rowdies came as Tyler Pardue pressured a General's defender and caused a turnover. Pardue then found Vercollone all alone in front of the goal. Vercollone beat the keeper to give the Rowdies the lead for good. The Generals made it interesting going on a power play for the last 1:40 of the game, but the Rowdies held tight to gain their third win of this young season.
Adam Thompson (7 saves) and Jay Wilson (4 saves) combined for the win for the Rowdies.
12-11-10 Rowdies Improve to 2-0 Behind Vercollone & Rhodiney!
The Richmond Rowdies improved to 2-0 with a come from behind 11- 8 shootout win over the Tidewater FC Sharks (1-1). The Rowdies were paced by Luke Vercollone (4 goals) and Rhodiney (3 goals).
The Rowdies got off to a quick start Saturday night as Luke Vercollone scored in the first minute of play to give his team an early 1-0 advantage. Tidewater stormed back, lead by former Virginia Tech standout Bobby O'Brien, for a 5-2 first quarter lead.
Not happy with his team's defensive effort in the first quarter Rowdies Coach Ray Pardue re-focused his team on their defensive responsibilities at the intermission. Said Coach Pardue "We didn't hold our marks and zoned out a bit defensively. The second quarter we clamped down and it got us back in the game." The Rowdies responded holding the Sharks scoreless in the second quarter to pull within 5-4 at half time. Vercollone, Matt Lacey, and Rhodiney scored to fuel the comeback.
The Rowdies started fast with two goals in the first minute of play in the second half. Rhodiney scored 10 seconds in, on an assist from Vercollone. Rhodiney returned the favor, less then a minute later, as he assisted Vercollone to give the Rowdies a 6-5 lead. O'Brien responded moments later to tie the game at six, and the Sharks added another third quarter goal for a 7-6 lead to end the quarter.
The fourth quarter belonged to the Rowdies as Rhodiney, Jake VanYares, Gago, and team captain Andy McIntosh scored to take a 10-7 lead. The Sharks added a penalty kick and Vercollone scored his fourth goal on an assist from McIntosh to finish out the scoring. The Sharks were lead by Shane Monroe, and O'Brien with 3 goals each. Adam Thompson got the win in goal for the Rowdies (20 saves).
12/4/10 -Rowdies Start Slow End Fast Behind 4 goals by Sam Na!
The Richmond Rowdies got off to a slow start Saturday night falling behind 4-1 in the first quarter. The team responded by scoring 8 unanswered goals to pull off a 9 - 6 victory over Dulles AC in the season opener.
The Rowdies (1-0) got off to a sloppy start giving up an own goal in the first minute of play. Tyler Pardue pulled the Rowdies even with an assist from Rhodiney two minutes later. From there the first quarter belonged to Dulles AC (0-1) as they used their counter attacking style to score 3 unanswered goals.
Down 4-1 at the end of the first quarter, Coach Ray Pardue made some defensive adjustments that propelled the Rowdies on their eight goal run. Said Coach Pardue "We didn't stay with their runners in the first quarter, once we solved that, we were able to get in a rhythm and play our high pressure style." Sam Na started the comeback with 2 goals in the second quarter including a phenomenal goal, beating the keeper on a 1 v 1 with 8 seconds remaining in the half. That goal cut Dulles AC's lead to 4-3 at half time.
The Rowdies continued their dominance in the third and fourth quarters with six straight goals. Rhodiney and Na lead the way with two goals each. While team captain Andy McIntosh and Alan Delehunty each added goals to build a 9-4 lead mid way through the fourth quarter. Dulles added a penalty kick and late goal for the final margin. Jay Wilson and Michele Nasti combined for 19 saves for the Rowdies
12/29/10 - Richmond Rowdies Claim Thanksgiving Shootout!
The Richmond Rowdies claimed the 2nd annual pre-season Thanksgiving Shootout versus F.C. Fredericksburg Generals this past weekend. After dropping a hard fought 8-6 loss in Fredericksburg Saturday night, the Rowdies responded with a convincing 7-3 victory at home on Sunday. The Goal differential between the two matches gave the Rowdies the title. In Sunday's deciding contest the Rowdies were lead by, last years leading scorer, Andy McIntosh. McIntosh's 3 goals paced the way as the Rowdies broke open a close game in the fourth quarter. Other goal scorers included Ben Hunter (2), Matt Lacey, and Rhodiney. Players garnering assists included SCOR's Asst. GM & Lil Kicker Coordinator Tyler Pardue, Blake Ledford, and Kofi Nti.
